Christopher R. Clark - President & Chief Executive Officer

As founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Robert Clark Retail Group, Chris is responsible for the conception and execution of core investment strategies initiated by the firm. Chris directs all facets of the company's business activities including acquisition, asset management and dispositions. Chris brings an entrepreneurial approach to real estate that is measured against responsible and disciplined fundamentals, creating sustained capital growth and equity preservation for his clients over the long term.

Prior to founding Robert Clark Retail, Chris served as the Senior Vice President of Private Equity for Los Angeles investment and development firm Howard & Mills Inc. Over a 5 year period Chris directed the asset management and acquisition of over 2,000,000 sq ft of retail and office properties and over $350,000,000 in 1031 and private equity funds. Additionally, Chris was responsible for the underwriting, financial analysis and due diligence review of all major acquisition and disposition projects undertaken by the company.

Chris also brings a diversity of experience from his tenure at SW Realty Partners where he was responsible for the acquisition and disposition of over $100,000,000 in single and multi tenant retail transactions. Prior to working at SW Realty Partners Chris began his career with Bay Area Brokerage firm BT Commercial NAI where he worked in retail leasing and investment sales.

Chris grew up in Hanover, New Hampshire and attended Phillips Exeter Academy and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Middlebury College. He enjoys golf, skiing, tennis and anything of a competitive nature. Brent Sonnek-Schmelz, Esq. - Vice President & General Council

As Vice President and General Counsel of the Robert Clark Retail Group, Brent oversees, in conjunction with outside counsel, the legal aspects of all acquisition, joint venture, disposition, development, leasing, management, financing and other real estate activities of the Company.

As a lawyer, Brent has acted as corporate counsel for Elite Sports Enterprises, Inc., a leading franchisor of sports specialty stores, and Sea Breeze Ford, Inc., a Ford automotive franchisee. Brent is licensed to practice law in New Jersey, New York and California.

In real estate Brent manages and represents a portfolio of family real estate investments in New Jersey, and acts as an advisor to a family real estate portfolio in Wisconsin and Florida. Previously, he worked as a commercial real estate consultant to Gotham Realty Holdings where he analyzed investments and interacted with prospective investors.

Brent cut his investing teeth working for Kinsman Capital, LLC a leading San Diego based private equity fund with $150 million under management. He acted as a lead investor for Kinsman and was the primary point of contact for portfolio companies. Brent acted as deal lead and currently sits on the Board of Directors of Drawer Box Specialties, Inc., a Kinsman portfolio company.


After receiving his B.A. from Middlebury College, Brent earned an M.B.A. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. At Penn Law, Brent received the Milton Sharpe Award for excellence in scholarship and research in urban renewal and redevelopment.

     
     

 

 

Shannon Matthews - Director of Asset Management and Leasing

As director of Asset Management and Leasing, Shannon is responsible for all leasing related activity, property management, project support and financial reporting for the Company. Previously, she was an Associate with Pacific Properties where she was involved in all aspects of acquisition and development including market research, due-diligence review, property management; leasing and operations. Shannon joined the real estate industry in 2003 as an associate with GTO Development at its inception and worked on all aspects of the development process including acquisitions, project feasibility, due-diligence review, financial structuring, project management and leasing. Shannon is a member of the Urban Land Institute and the Los Angeles Worlds Affairs Council.
